Mi sono da poco ripreso dall’ondata di entusiasmo per il 1098 che ha travolto tutto e tutti in Ducati durante EICMA.
Grazie di cuore ai 1696 Ducatisti e non che hanno postato sul 1098.
Alcune domande tuttavia hanno bisogno di risposta.
I have only just been able to catch my breath from the waves of enthusiasm for the 1098 that have swept us all away during EICMA. A heartfelt thanks to the 1696 Ducatisti (and non) that responded to the post on the 1098.
Some of the questions need a response so here we go.

1) Consegne
Il 1098s sarà presso i dealer Europei a partire da Dicembre 2006, in USA da Febbraio 2007; il 1098 base a partire da Febbraio 2007 sia in USA che in Europa, il Tricolore da Febbraio in Europa, da Marzo in USA.
1) Tricolore
Il modello Tricolore è stato elaborato da Aldo Drudi su un’idea della filiale Americana di Ducati.
A questo proposito vi riporto un bel commento preso da un forum americano:
“Dio ha inventato il rosso così che le Ducati potessero essere le moto più belle al mondo; è così semplice per me! Solo cinque colori appartengono a una Ducati: il Rosso (carene o telaio), l’Oro (telaio e/o ruote), l’Argento (telaio), il Nero (ruote) e il Bianco (le targhe portanumeri da gara, e nelle moto d’epoca, il telaio: da un tocco così deliziosamente retrò). Una Ducati di ogni altro colore sarebbe un’impostura; come una figlia illegittima. Le mancherebbe qualcosa; non rappresenterebbe il marchio; non sarebbe la Regina. C’è solo un’eccezione a questa regola: la Tricolore. Come un gene recessivo spunta in tutta la sua gloria; il gioiello di famiglia. Non migliore ma diversa; come un’albina in una famiglia di bellezze brune.”
3) Colori aggiuntivi
È nostra intenzione aggiungere un colore al rosso nel 2008. Le opzioni potrebbero essere giallo, nero, bianco (sotto potete vedere alcuni bozzetti) ma si accettano suggerimenti.
4) Cilindrata inferiore
Non è prevista per il 2007 ma un motore 848 sarà disponibile nel 2008 se ci sarà sufficiente richiesta.
5) Campionato Superbike
Nel Campionato Superbike corrono le derivate della moto di serie.
Quindi mi sembra logico che se la nostra moto di serie è il 1098, la derivata di serie del 1098 è la moto che deve correre in SBK.
È la stessa logica che ha portato le case Giapponesi a chiedere un cambio di regolamento che, dal 2003, ha consentito di poter correre con le loro derivate di serie da 1000cc al posto delle 750 cui non corrispondevano moto in commercio.
Purtroppo la logica a volte si inceppa di fronte alla politica, alla paura o più semplicemente al desiderio di danneggiarci.
Siamo quindi costretti contro la nostra volontà a correre nel Campionato SBK 2007 con il 999F07 in cambio della promessa di un cambio regolamentare che ci consenta di correre con la nuova moto a partire dal 2008.
Non abbiate timore, la 999F07 è una grandissima moto e in mano a Troy e Lorenzo darà battaglia anche se in debito di cavalli.
Il 1098 correrà in Superstock maschile e femminile.
1) Delivery
The 1098 S will arrive at European Dealerships starting from December 2006 and in the USA from February 2007. Starting from February 2007 the 1098 will arrive in both the USA and Europe. The 1098 Tricolore will arrive in Europe in starting from February 2007 and in March in the USA.
2) Tricolore
The Tricolore (three colour) model was created by Aldo Drudi based on an idea that came from Ducati’s North American subsidiary. By the way, I paste here a wonderful comment that appeared on an American forum:
“God invented red so that Ducatis would be the most beautiful bikes in the world; it’s pretty much as simple as that to me. Only five colors belong on a Ducati: Red (body & or frame), Gold (frame & or wheels), Silver (Frame), Black (wheels), and White (Number plates; and on the older bikes; frame; gives them a nice retro look). A Ducati in any other color is just a pretender; like a bastard child. You still love it and it does have your blood but it just isn’t legitimate; it’s missing something; it’ll never represent the name; it’ll never be king. There is ONE exception to this; the Tri-color. Like a recessive gene every now and then it pops up in all its glory; the stand out child. Not better just different; the blue eyed blond in a family of raven haired beauties.”
3) Additional Colours
We are planning on producing the 1098 in a second colour. The options to choose from are Yellow, White or Black (below you see some studies)– but we are open to other suggestions.
4) Displacement
A lower displacement engine is not forseen for 2007 but an 848 engine will be available in 2008 if there is adequate demand.
5) Superbike Championship
The bikes that race in the Superbike Championships are derived from the production models. Therefore, it is only logical that if our new production Superbike is the 1098, the bike derived from the 1098 is the one that must race in the SBK Championship.
This is the same logic that pushed the Japanese motorcycle companies to ask for some rule changes. Since 2003, this has allowed them to race with their bikes at 1000 cc that had been derived from their 750 cc production models – bikes that did not correspond with the bikes on the market.
Sometimes logic is blocked by politics, fear or simply the desire to damage. As a result in the World Superbike Championshp we are forced to race with the 999F07, against our wishes, in exchange for a promise that the rules will change allowing us to race with the 1098 in 2008.
Don’t fear – the 999F07 is a wonderful motorcycle and ridden by Troy and Lorenzo, it will put up a great fight, even if it has less horsepower.
The 1098 will race in the men’s and women’s Superstock championship.

nera è fantasmagorica….un nero dark soprattutto….
Egregio Presidente, ho più volte postato chiedendo se sarà realizzata una versione in cilindrata ridotta e la ringrazio per la risposta. Ma la cilindrata 848 non esclude automaticamente la Ducati dal campionato SS? Crede che la Federazione permetterà di gareggiare con un gap di 250cc in pù? La 749 non è da meno delle 600 4cilindri ed è un motivo di orgoglio sfidarle dove vendono di più, cioè nel segmento SS. Non conosco le complicate leggi di mercato, ma la 749 sarà ancora venduta?

La 1098 è stupenda, impossibile fare meglio.
Come colori, concordo con chi la vuole nera con telaio rosso, un sogno… e bianca devo dire che mi piace, magari mettendo qualcosa di rosso (perchè un minimo di rosso su una Ducati non deve mai mancare…)
Peccato per il regolamento 2007..speriamo che ci siano abbastanza miglioramenti e aggiornamenti, perchè mi sa che i jap le proveranno tutte. Piena fiducia nel reparto Corse, comunque.
Per i colori…giallo troppo giapponese o canarino (a seconda), ma anche troppo yamaha (livrea molto simile al team satellite 2006). Nera classico stile dark, ma anche bianca con particolari e scritte in rosso non guasterebbe affatto.
ps: farne una argentata come la 996 del 2001 (weekend sfortunato, ma bella moto). forse somiglierebbe alla mv, ma insomma..

Forse anche blu con scrite Polizia sul fianchi-forse in tal modo non mi rompono le scatole per causa di marmite Akrapovic racing, che sicuramente sostituerano quele standard.

Riguardo la SBK ed il regolamento: purtroppo non è semplice gestire i rapporti tra campionato e produzione di serie. Nel 2007 si verificherà una condizione grossolana, in cui Ducati dovrà correre in WSBK con una 999F07 che di fatto sui listini sarà già rimpiazzata dalla 1098: capisco tuttavia la difficoltà nell’aggiornare il regolamento, il rischio è quello di avere una categoria fatta di moto costruite e commercializzate “ad hoc”.
Troy d’altronde è un maestro del bicilindrico, ma la stagione sarà dura..
Magari non sarà una passeggiata come quest’anno in SBK ma Troy ce la può fare…. Per i colori concordo con il nero e telaio rosso, bella, cattiva dal cuore rosso ducati(il bianco è interessante ma mi sembra solo da vetrina, il giallo non mi è mai piaciuto). Ancora complimenti per la moto è veramente eecceziuunale… desmosaluti

I think, a black 1098 will be the best choice. If possible the mono swingarm, the silencers and may be the fork should also come in black …
SBK:
999 or 1098 doesn´t matter. King Troy will smash all other SBK-Riders to pieces!
La 1098 la vedo bene anche gialla e nera nella versione base e assolutamente Rossa e solo rossa nella futura versione R. Vorrei sapere qualche notizie in più sulla Hipermotard, quando potrò vederla e provarla? e soprattutto quanto costerà? Ho urgente necessità di sapere queste risposte! Provate a immaginare il perchè!

presidente ma non c’è nemmeno la possibilità che la 1098 venga svhierata a metà campionato,diciamo dopo la pausa estiva perchè io non resisto fino all’anno prossimo per vedere la 1098 correre nel SBK,su trovate un modo per far correre la 1098.per i colori sono bellissimi tutti quelli proposti ma per me la tricolore è la piu bella

Firstly, excellent job on the 1098! I am very happy put one in my garage next to my Monster S2R1000!
Second, I would like to see the base and S models with gold frame and wheels as seen on the Tri-color model.
Gold = Magnesium and other exotic alloys = The essence of Ducati quality!!!
Red frame is so-so-if it is the only choice then I accept it.
Black wheels and black anodized parts are for Asian motorcycles!

Sarebbe fantastica una colorazione nero lucido e cerchi rossi tipo la mitica 916 senna oppure,in alternativa,nero opaco tipo 748s.Il bianco non rende molto mentre un bel vecchio giallo ducati fa sempre la sua bella scena!!
Mi dispiace solo che la 999/749 finiscano la loro carriera commerciale cosi repentinamente in quanto a mio parere la linea è molto riuscita ed è completamente diversa da ogni altro stile giapponese!!Perché non lasciate in commercio almeno la 749 fino all arrivo della 848 visto che manca una cilindrata di mezzo nel2007?

Salve a tutti. Dei tre colori perferisco il giallo (forse perchè la mia prima vera moto “ducati ovviamente” era, è e sarà gialla anche dentro ) poi anche il bianco mi attira parecchio mentre il nero non saprei comunque da come ho letto dagli altri post qualche fratello ducatista ha consigliato la livrea unica per la 1098 R “Rossa” io non sono d’accordo e credo che dando la possibilità di scegliere almeno fra due colori (Rosso e Giallo ad ex.) dia molta più libertà a chi vuole un prodotto Ducati e poi così facendo si ritornerebbe alle colorazioni della 916-996-998.

Presidente non ha risposto ad una domanda importante, cosa ne facciamo dei 999 visto che li vendono al mercato al prezzo delle patate?
Io del mio S sò benissimo cosa farne, una bella cura a base di carbonio rigorosamente Ducati e frizione antisaltellamento, per cui da me i soldi li prendete ugualmente. Attenzione perchè dalle mie parti di 999 ne hanno venduti veramente molti e non c’è di peggio di un cliente deluso.
E poi perchè costretti a correre con il 999, mi sembra che in 4 anni di corse abbia vinto più di altre
beneamate, Presidente non si allinei anche Lei con i detrattori del 999, non La perdonerei.
Attenzione a guardare costantemente indietro, alla fine invece che su una moto ci ritroveremo in bicicletta.

I placed a deposit for a 1098s because there was no indication that a 749 replacement was forthcoming. Now
I will withdraw my deposit in hopes Ducati will be true to it’s history and produce the 848!!!
il rosso è il colore Ducati per eccellenza, ma bisognerebbe variare. Il giallo lo farei diventare il colore di punta delle piccole (un pò come la 748 quando correva con Casoli) mentre il rosso per la 1098.
Cmq il giallo a me piace moltissimo (avrei voluto la 999 gialla con telaio giallo)per cui…
Il bianco lo farei solo perchè va di moda, ma confesso che nn è male…
il nero nn mi piace…
si potrebbe pensare di fare un colorazione grigia (ispirata alla 996 di Bayliss del 2001 ad Imola)…altri colori nn ne vedo
Se uno vuole un colore o un abbinamento speciale si arrangia a farselo! È cosi bello personalizzare la propria moto!
Henry Ford diceva che il modello T era disponibile in qualsiasi colore purché fosse il nero…e ne ha vendute un mucchio, nere.
Già la dieci98 c’é anche tricolore, secondo me non bisogna fare l’errore della MV un sacco di versioni in vari colori ma alla fine la moto é sempre quella e tante versioni si assomigliano parecchio!
Chiaro che un’alternativa al rosso si potrebbe anche fare, voto il nero, lucido. Il bianco cangiante é roba da giapp! Il giallo cangiante é roba da Triumphonda.
If Ducati produce a 848 short-stroke, oversquare bike with Ohlins, forged wheels, and a 17×5.5 rear you will sell as many of them as the 1098. Produce it!
Since I first saw thw 1098 I immediately fell in love ! Now I can’t wait to get one.
As for the 848, I would strongly suggest you produce it. In fact, if it will be produced, I might consider waiting to get that instead of the 1098.
As for a second colour, I like the white very much. Especialy if it will be a perl white.
Again congratulations for making history again. I’m sure tha impact of the 1098 on the motorcycle world will send many Japanese designers back to highschool :)

Mongo from the Monster Board says black. Preferably with DUCATI above the bellypan as on the Tri-color.

An 848 would be good too ! But the “R” version would
be great with magnesium, titanium, brushed billet, and

Cilindra 848 per il presunto nuovo 749s?Questo vorrebbe dire lasciare la ss visto che il regolamento non sara’ mai cambiato per permettere che una tale cilindrata bicilindrica,in ovvio eccesso di cavalli,possa correrci.Di questo sono alquanto deluso perche’ non e’ per nulla una grande impresa pompare il motore del 749,magari facendolo derivare dalla serie r oppure ridurre le misure del tse,per avere una media imbattibile anche nelle corse.Ricordo a coloro che leggono solo le cartelle stampa che le attuali 600 di cv alla ruota non ne hanno piu’ di 105 originali,chiaramente misurati su banchi seri come quello che usa Mototecnica non su una brutta copia di un banco.Quello che paga il 749 e’ il peso ma usando la nuova 1098,gia’ molto leggera,non ci sarebbero problemi di sorta.Sono un modesto appassionato e se son riuscito io a togliere 24kg da un 749s figuriamoci se non ci riuscite voi….
First let me say that I am impressed with your candor and openness with your customer base. It is quite refreshing.
I’ll take an 848 as soon as it hits the US shores - exactly like I did with the 748. Paint it in the same colors (red body, bronze/gold frame and wheels) and I’ll be even happier.
As to the second color - white is interesting, black looks great and would be awesome with a red frame, but yellow has such an Italian and Ducati history behind it. Hard to decide.
A 1098 with full white fairings and gold frame, wheels, and lettering would look superb! White is also particularly nice for American Ducatisti since it is our international racing color.

The model lineup is looking very exciting for 2007,
whatver you do do not kill off the ST range, what the press and public do not apreciate about these bikes is the very same things a lot of us ST owners love and adore. I personally use my ST2 on frequent 1000 to 3000 Km trips always smiling with pure enjoyment it gives me.
Perhaps if you were to think about the ST’s future, and take up the fight with the likes of Triumph and the like, may I encourage you to capitalise on the 1098 engine tuned for low end tourque and a price adjustment as has been welcomed by many superbike fans. there is a huge fan base for these ST’s we are dreding it’s demise, give this a thought.

Presidente, assolutamente la 1098 NERA E NERA dark che è un colore fantastico (agressivo). Bianca non è male, ma mi riccorda troppo i colori che usa (spesso) la Triumph. Riguardo alla gialla, visto che si è usato sempre, sopratutto sulle carenate, non vedo perchè non farlo, ovviamente dipende dalle richeste del mercato. Saluti e Forza Ducati :))

Voglio la 848 Nera!
Ah dimenticavo, la nera con il tellaio rosso mi fà un’pò troppo la moto “modaiola”, mentre la troverei fantastica (è qui ci metto la firma) con NERO LUCIDO + TELLAIO DI COLOR BRONZO (come quello della Tricollore, che trovo belissimo) ed eventualmente le ruote con lo stesso colore del tellaio. Caro presidente perchè non faccia fare ai grafici Ducati un carrellata delle combinazoni da proporci e vedere cosa ne dicono i Ducatisti?? Ancora saluti

Ci date delle info sulla HYPERMOTARD? Date certe e prezzo di vendita…anche sapere i prezzi “ufficiali” delle varie versioni di 1098 e 848…Abbiamo bisogno di numeri per poter decidere cosa comprare. KTM ed altre case sanno già dare queste informazioni sui nuovi modelli perchè Ducati no?

Great work, but I think it looks a bit non ducati to have the gold stripe on the tank of the Tricolore, you should have gone for a see through stripe as on old bikes like the greenframe 750SS.

Per quanto riguarda la 848, non vedo l’ora che approviate anche questa soluzione, penso sia una ottima soluzione. La attendo volentieri.
la mia colorazione special? una ducati rossa cerchi neri con la banda bianca di ducati corse (la grossa e le due piccoline)sulle fiancate e i portanumeri bianchi coda e frontale.

Caro Presidente, credo che Lei abbia letto le numerose lamentele in merito alla svendita della 999…se proprio non può fare a meno dei saldi sulla 999 perchè non offre uno sconto del 60% su ricambi e accessori 999 almeno compensiamo la svalutazione rendendo più originale e costosa la nostra amata moto…magari limitare l’offerta solo a coloro che l’hanno acquistata nuova…perchè non regalate un turno in pista?o qualcosa del genere?sto esagerando un po’…
Dovevate farla già quest’anno anche in un colore diverso dal rosso, avreste conquistato molti più acquirenti non ducatisti, che non amano il rosso e magari hanno tutto l’abbigliamento di un bel blu come il sottoscritto…

Ah, io voto per la gialla e la bianca, la nera si confonde con le versioni dark che avete già proposto e con la miriade di altre supersportive tutte nere che sono già in commercio.
Penso che il nero e il bianco siano una giusta colorazione, a me non piace particolarmente il giallo, ma c’è gente a cui piace. E cmq, per la colorazione nera è il top se ha il telaio rosso. Il telaio argentato mi sa di vecchio, qualcosa di datato. Provate col rosso, sarà un successo..
Premesso che concordo appieno con quel tale che ha scritto il post : “Dio ha inventato il rosso così che le Ducati potessero essere le moto più belle al mondo…”
Riguardo al sondaggio la vedo così:
1) Livrea Rossa con tabelle bianche su codone e cupolino! (magari con telaio e cerchi oro)
2) Livrea Tricolore disponibile per tutte le versioni del 1098!
3) La livrea “Atomic White” è modaiola, ma molto bella.

I believe black is the best choice but please give it a red frame as so many have requested. There is a mock up of this available on http://www.hfalex.it/1098.htm as well as some pretty ugly variants.
Will you be racing the 1098, or will there be a 1198 as rumoured which will go straight into racing? If that happens, will there be a 1198 road bike?

How about a black one with red frame?
The white is pretty cool, I want to say black, but the white just sort of pops for some reason. It shows what a beautiful design the bike has. Red makes most things look better, but when white is put on something and it still looks amazing, you’ve got a winner.
Concerning the yellow. I always thought yellow was for the 748/749. If I got an 848 it would have to be yellow, but a 1098 solid red. I always like the 916’s in solid red especially on the big slick (no fins or vents) side panel. I hate a bunch of decals on the side, that’s something the Asian market does.
Also I’m assuming this blog does away with the rumors concerning a 1198 R version in 2008?
Pearl White would make the 1098 the most unmistakable superbike on the road and also complement almost any modification it’s owner might prefer. Custom graphics, colored add ons and virtually every tone of metal work with it. It’s a classy, clean canvas. Shiny black second.
I placed a deposit on a 1098s because my dealer said he didn’t think Ducati would replace the 749 as they are not interested in a factory race effort in that class. Now, with the possiblility of a 848 I told him to hold my deposit for the 848, even for a year. But, the sooner Ducati produces the 848, the sooner you will have a buyer. The demand is there, don’t wait!
If you produce the 848, it must be no more than 170kg and with a 5.5 rear to allow use of a 180 tyre.
Ducati have produced a true super bike with the 1098, stun the world again with the 848!
Please make the 848, we already miss the 749.
One top line version (Ohlins, Termignoni, etc) for racing like the 749R and one for entry superbike buyers like the 749 Dark.
848 Must be as light, quick & fast as the 600’s or it will not do for racing.

I was at the press launch of the 1098 yesterday at Kyalami in South Africa. I can tell you that the bike looks and sounds like nothing i have ever seen or heard. To me the bike is a mixture of all the best parts of the 916 and 999 with a couple of awesome extras. Hope an 848 is produced. Forza Ducati

Sinceramente a me piaccio tutte e tre, il bianco è intrigante, mai visto su una superbike. Comunque nera dovete farla assolutamente, magari con telaio rosso, poi gialla con telaio e cerchi neri e bianca con telaio nero e cerchi neri.
Caro pucciluca la tua versione “bianco perlata+ telaio rosso e sopratutto, sella rossa”, mi riccorda tanto Yamaha R1 2007 (bianca).

This bike is truly beautiful and passionate. Obviously reminescent of the 916/996/998 series. Passion/Power/Handling, she has all the class associated with a pivital Ducati Superbike. I personally am in love with the Tri Color, but am shocked and taken back with emotion at the sight of the white version. Gorgeous.

I’m on my seventh Ducati two of which I still own. All have been red except my Bevel 900ss in silver and the 748sp in yellow which I wish I had never sold! So for the 848 YELLOW and the 1098 RED and maybe an occasional limited edition Stealth Black of each (radar absorbent paint!!) with Satin Black swing arm,and fork legs and some extras. But keep production and sales better balanced than you did for the 999/749 because the trade-in allowances -if you can get an offer!- insult the quality of the old bike. I am going to have a 1098s asap in a any case but I am disappointed about what the market thinks my 999s is worth. I’m sure many others will feels the same. So YELLOW for a 848 but don’t devalue the bikes by flooding the market please!

I’ve bought a MULTISTRADA 1100S mid september (to soon, shit). Before i owned a beautiful 996 and didn’t want to get the 999 because i didn’t favoured the design. I also wanted something else

Reddog is what I call my 749. Red is for Ducati. I love the 749 and now I can only wait to love my new Red 1098. I would like to see gold wheels, perhaps next year, although if my 1098 came with gold wheels this year, that would be very cool. 848…. hmmm- you will make it harder for me to decide, I accept the challenge, please make the 848 and be sure there is a Red one with big diameter pipes!

Se la fate nera, almeno nero lucido, il dark opaco da l’idea che abbiate finito il lucido trasparente. Ma perchè non fate un cerchio grigio (bellissimo) come il mio 620 ieS, tutte le moto japan hanno i cerchi neri; facciamo qualcosa di diverso! poi non c’è uno stacco cromatico con la gomma montando un cerchione nero.

Electric Blue should be considered… a blue that looks so bright and striking, it looks as if mother nature sent it from the sky via the sun. I love the Ducati red, it will never be replaced. Black is so common, Yellow stands out like the red but not as fast, with white being pure. Blue is what is missing from the mix. Now, being it is an Italian bike, Green is a nature but as a solid color, just doesn’t look right as a solid color.
I’m quite sure that any options offered will look great as it is a great looking bike.

x 97: se non ho capito male la versione che verrà consegnata è monoposto ma, inclusi nel prezzo, ci sono il sellino posteriore e le pedane che poi ti puoi montare in tutta calma a casa.

In futuro sarei molto interessato a una 848 Dark. Anche perchè con la potenza che ha raggiunto la 1098 sarebbe un grosso errore non produrre una SS. Per esempio, un cliente che volesse passare da un monster 800 o inferiore a una carenata, potrebe essere intimorito da una moto così prestazionale. Oltretutto le SS hanno una grande fetta di mercato, non bisogna lasciarla completamente scoperta!
Il bianco è bello, ma lo userei solo per sposarmi… Il giallo è troppo canarino… Carene e telaio nero è fantastico!!!

save the yellow for the 848 - pearl white would be fantastic - and completely different to everyone else - black is always good, but there are already too many black bikes around. i will be saving for the 848 - make it lighter if possible.

Ever since I saw a yellow 748, I think there are two colors for Ducati, red (the best red in the industry ), and yellow.

The successor of 916 series with legitimate me admits being 1098.
However, I am 999s (03) owner.
It is opposite that the individual teruburanchi design of 749 and 999 is lost.
I want you to make it continue somehow.
If it is impossible, it is expected that 999FE or ultimate 999R (07) will be announced.
749 and 999 designs are the highest!

Make 99% of them red (the only real color for this type of bike) and 0.5% Yellow and 0.5% black but NEVER EVER make a white one. Look at the VFR-800 if you want to see how to ruin a decent bike by making it in white.
How about an early ‘08 848, say in March? Black w/red frame & wheels (to match my Supersport) 140hp, 370lbs and I will crawl on broken glass if I have too, to get you my deposit.
BTW, please give us a new, updated Supersport. Adjustable suspension, updated aluminum swingarm, basically same as 1000DS, only more oversquare 750cc, say 94mmx54mm, 350lbs and 100hp?
848 please. I put off buying a 749 this summer in anticipation for the updated range. I never imagined you would do one with out the other. I love the 1098, but don’t want 160 hp. 848 would be perfect. How soon can I get one, I have cash waiting. With the new price points and maintinance you will not be able to make either model fast enough. Welcome to a bigger cut of the market.

Black and white are not really colours, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.Some people look and see a yellow bike, but when the colour is on a DUCATI it becomes CORSA GOLD.

The colours:
a. Giallo - it is sure to sell and looks razor sharp.
b. Nero - will appeal more to non-traditional Ducatista I think.
c. White - This is something that would also interest me; but, it would have to be offset with gold lettering, frame, wheels etc. I also think it would be a low seller.
The concept of an 848…I would definitely add one to my garage.

I’m not sure which of these links will work Frederico, but I hope you get a chance or have already seen the Photoshop images of a BLACK 1098. Matte Black works well for the Monster series because of its elemental exposure -it’s bare form. Superbikes are distintively finished. Polished. The only colors that belong on them should be the same. Shiny. Reflective. A testament to its truth, its iconic status of ultimate supremacy. Monsters may rule the city streets, but a Ducati Superbike rules the open roads with the blazing sun lighting her way and a rider keeping her company amongst the gods.

Leggendo numerosi commenti su questo blog ho avuto la conferma di un sospetto che si era insinuto nella mente: può permettersi la Ducati di lasciare nelle “medie” (600 cc circa) la sola Monster 695? I grossi numeri il mercato li fa proprio con le moto di quella cilindrata, ma da quest’anno Ducati ha in listino solo moto da 1000 o 1100 cc, esclusa la citata Monster, sempre bella, bellissima, ma sulla breccia dal giurassico … le novità x il 2007 sono ok, certo x me che vado in moto da 30 anni non resta che l’imbarazzo della scelta, ma se un giovane volesse accostarsi al desmo? o Monster o Monster … ci vuole qualche proposta nuova s meno di 9.000,00 euro per colmare il vuoto; mi permetterei di suggerire un 650 desmo 4 valvole da mettere sotto una sportiva e una mix tra Multistrada e Hipermotard …

Yellow is a traditional Ducati colour as well (even singles have been painted yellow). There is great following of Ducati, who likes the red ones, but prefers the yellow bikes. So plese, make a yellow bike availableL; possible standard colour for the 848?

Sir, you are going to steal away a large number of 1000cc Japanese bike owners with the 1098. Be aggressive and do the same with the 600cc owners by producing the 848.
But, more importantly, reward your loyal 748/749 owners with the 848, they deserve it.
Red for the base and yellow for a 848SPS, 170kg, large pipes with termi in carbon (music to my ears!).
I have withheld my deposit for the 1098, but please, please have the 848 in mid-2007.

In DUCATI si dovrebbe anche pensare ad una moderna carenata di media cilindrata(magari fare l erede della supersport 600)in quanto trovo sia un errore lasciare campo libero ai giap in questa fascia di mercato..

This is my second comment regarding the 848.
I don’t know if my dealer should be doing this, but today I gave him a deposit for a 848.
It is odd to be placing a deposit for a bike that doesn’t exist, but if Ducati decides to produce it, I want one the minute it becomes available.

Beh far scomparire la media cilindrata non penso sia una cosa vantaggiosa, io voto assolutamente per la creazione del 848 che comprerei immediatamente, ottimo compromesso per circolare su strada, il 1098 lo tengo uso pista :-)
Scusi Presidente ma non riesco ancora a credere ke Ducati voglia abbandonare il segmento Spersport non producendo più la cilindrata 750 per la propria Superbike.Ci avete pensato bene? Ke senso avrebbe una 850? Forse serve a dire ke il bicilindrico Desmo non è in grado di dare battaglia ai 600cc 4cil? vogliamo scherzare? Please produce the 848, I own a 749s 05 model, which i really like , but it would be excellent to have the new shape with the 848 engine. The body of the bike should be red with a red frame, black wheels, exactly the same as the new 1098. Yellow for the second colour. If black is the second colour, for me it has to be Gloss not Matt, sports bikes should be glossy!!

I love my 748R but it’s a bit of a pig to ride on the road. A 1098? That’s too much power for the roads I ride, I can’t afford it anyway! So please please get the 848 finished, I’d buy one tomorrow and at the right price I think it could out sell the 1098.

I think an 848cc engine is an excellent idea for supersport racing and to put Ducati back in the fight against all of these all new middleweight machines (i.e. ‘07 cbr 600rr, ‘07 zx-6r, ‘07 r6, ‘07 gsxr-600).
Also, as for the 2nd color choice in the U.S. I VOTE FOR THE WHITE 1st, and the YELLOW 2nd.
I just put my deposit down for the 1098, and as far as the 2nd color please make it gloss black. That way i will have a hard decision over the next 4 months whether to choose red or black

caro presidente,io credo che la 1098 debba essere rossa con telaio rosso e cerchi(o anche altri particolari)neri.come secondo colore metterei proprio il nero ma opaco,con telaio e cerchi rossi.il giallo lo lascerei per l’eventuale 848.però da possessore di una monster 620,che vorrei cambiare tra un paio di anni al massimo,mi preme farle sapere che dovete investire sul 848 o altro modello simile(vedi supersport).dovete cioè creare un modello che possa essere la “seconda ducati”per chi come me è gia ducatista e comincia con una piccola cilindrata e vuole fare il salto di categoria,o chi ha gia avuto magari una giapponese e vorrebbe comprare una ducati senza però comprare un bombardone come puo essere la 1098!infatti una 848 testastretta o una nuova supersport desmodue potrebbero essere le moto con la giusta potenza e la giusta erogazione che serve per godere sulle strade di tutti i giorni,senza timore di avere molti cavalli ma con delle prestazioni comunque elevate.infatti gia la hypermotard è una moto di questo tipo,ora vi manca solo di fare il modello sportivo(intendo con carena e semi-manubri)!!!

io opterei per due varianti con una cosa in comune il telaio rosso, ovvero nero dark con telaio rosso e bianco perlato con telaio rosso!!!Il giallo lo scarterei in quanto in Italia Ducati gialle se ne sono vendute pochissime ed il colore non entusiasma nessuno!!!
Inoltre spero sempre che prima che inizino le consegne verrà omologata la versione MONOPOSTO!!!

I may just be a simple rider but I think the white 1098 would be one of the most Unique and amazing bikes to be seen on the road. Black and Yellow have been done to death by everyone but white is unique and fresh. Not to mention that it would look unbelievable on the 1098. I just bought an 06 749s (black) and LOVE it, and really like the 1098. I’m considering trading up for the 1098 depending on the color. Yellow is cool, Black is also cool, but if white ended up being the color I would not hesitate for a second to go put down 1000 bucks to reserve my white 1098s the second I could get one.

Seriously, WHITE. There is no other color. Black has been done to death and yellow is cool for about a day. WHITE WHITE WHITE, Everyone I’ve talked to at the motorcycle show here in town is hoping for a white one. NO ONE LIKES YELLOW! Si potrebbe fare così: 3 colori per la moto (rosso, giallo, nero) e tre colori per telaio/cerchi (rosso, nero, oro tipo tricolore), dopodiché il cliente sceglie il proprio abbinamento preferito. Optional a pagamento su tutte le versioni la tricolore ;-)
va bene, nera è bellissima e si potrebbe anche fare. Una sola nota, probabilmente Ducati ha nelle mani una delle più belle moto dei prossimi anni.
Il classico nero ducati è ottimo, lucido o dark. E se la nostra amata casa si spingessi più avanti, se pensasse ad un colore nero più inteso che possa leggermente virare di colore magari sotto il sole.
Così da renderla unica anche nei colori, lo stesso dicasi per il giallo o per il bianco ( naturalmete perlato).

come già scritto sostituirò la mia bella Moster 1000DS blu con la 1098 ROSSA. Il bianco è apprezzabile. Più tosto che di colore io parlerei di nome: un freddo numero (1098) non rende grazia ne alla moto ne alla ducati. Perchè non chiamarla Troy Bayliss in modo da rimarcare una moto SBK campione del mondo con un pilota che sicuramente tutti i tifosi ducati amano?
P.S. una bandierina tricolore piccola sul muso non sarebbe male.
What a weekend we just had in sunny South Africa. With the world launch of the amazing 1098 and the Ducati Dream Day South Africa all on the same weekend - does life get any better? I Watched as Troy Bayliss blitzed the SA Superbike Track record at Kyalami in his stock 1098 and got to enjoy the track on my 999 with a load of other Ducati track day goers. What a day. Well done to the Ducati SA team and to SA Biking Academy, it was a fantastic event and one that I will attend next year for sure.
On the issue of the 1098 not being able to participate in WSBK next year. What about the Desmosedici RR? It’s a production bike now, why not race that?
Oooo I like it, a White body with red frame and red lettering. Also… what about an Italian green one? I still choose white.
I am in the market for a new bike and I love the 1098 but prefer the handling and agility of a smaller displacement bike. Please build the 848! I would place an order today if the 848 was available.

Make the 848 in a tri-color like you did with the 1098 and in yellow as well as black. If you dont make a tri-color 848 at least make an R version.

I’m waiting for the 848 to appear. This will prompt me to sell my 916. Many Duc owners I know are more excited about the prospects of the 848 than the 1098. We want a high reving, lighter, 120rwhp bike with the handling characteristics like the 749R. Why does the 749R handle great? No one knows, its a mystery but it does. This may sound off the wall but there are a few top racers and suspension people that have testified to this “phenomenon”
Many including myself are wondering why Ducati didn’t put a slipper clutch on such a powerful track bike like the 1098? This bike is said to have the greatest torque to weight ratio of any production sportbike, which is a perfect reason to put a SLIPPER CLUTCH ON IT! C’mon with all the racing technology on this thing, how can Ducati leave out such an important thing when every single Japanese sportbike has a slipper clutch as OEM.
Also, the people of the U.S. have spoken, please make a white 1098. It would truly be a unique bike on the road as NO OTHER MANUFACTURE produces a WHITE bike a standard, continue with the Innovation Ducati and make a WHITE 1098 PLEASE!!
I agree, a WHITE bike would look Gorgeous on the road. DO NOT PRODUCE A BLACK BIKE! Every other bike on the road is black and the 1098 has beautiful curves which would be completely removed with a black color. White (like the S4RS) will completely show the lines on the 1098 and it will look like a true piece of art!

I have owned two Ducati and I want my third one to be the 848.
It would really support the history of Ducati to offer an 848SPS in either yellow (first) or red.
Also, a slipper clutch is a must and I think it would look great to have the exhaust similar in appearance to the exhaust on the SuperMono. Truely unique and a motorcycle to keep forever and hand down to my son.

Save the yellow for the 848. White would be new and fresh. But since it is a fasion color on demand today, it will not be popular that very long. Gloss black is my second choice after red. But I must say that I think you should stick to only one color: RED!
If you go for white, have it only a short time!
The 848 and a smaller bore HyperMotard would be nice in yellow.

My color vote is for gloss black for a second color and that beautiful italian yellow as a third color. as for the 848 I would love to see it at dealers this fall with a slipper clutch and 125 R.W.H.P. I know it will out sell the 1098. so just build the thing!!!!! I’ll take mine in gloss black for $10,995.

I will be waiting for the 848. I would like to make the jump to a superbike from my existing monster 800 and a 1098 is too much bike for me. If you are going to produce an 848, make sure that the bike is not designed like the standard 749. Specs showed that the standard 749 weighed MORE than the 999 (415 vs 410 respectively). If the intent is to produce the 848 that is competitive with the 600cc four cylinder/675cc three cylinder market, attempts need to be made to either keep the weight either the same (371 lbs)or consistent with the drop in displacement. Dry weight measurements for competitors is currently around 357 lbs for 6xx cc bikes. The mid-range sport bike is a very competitive segment. If ducati can make a bike with a horsepower and torque output competitive to 6xx cc triples and fours, without compromising on weight (like the standard 749), I feel the 848 will sell much better than the 1098.

Avevo perso di vista il mondo moto dal 2004, quando ho subito un incidente abbastanza grave mentre mi recavo proprio al WDW. Mentre la mia piccola monster 600 dark giace in disuso in garage (troppo bella e troppo affezionato per venderla), riscopro un mondo Ducati più vivo che mai, e questa 1098 che è davvero stupenda. Finalmente si torna alle linee classiche ma rinnovatissime 916-style, che hanno reso Ducati la Superbike più bella di sempre. cominciamo dal dire che 848 mi sembra veramente azzeccato sia come nome che come motore… per quanto riguarda la colorazione io direi di mantenere il solito giallo e il rosso in stile ducati, ma c’è da farci un pensierino e non solo ad aggiungere anche il nero.. sarebbe carino per noi ducatisti avere una terza variante di colore al momento della fatidica scelta…

The 848 sounds very tempting. If it is produced in the R trim and is significantly lighter then I would definitely say go for it! As for the 1098´s 2nd color I would say black with red frame as this color is much more race invocative and gives a more aggressive appearance to this already incredible bike.
Mr. Minoli, why wait until next year to race in the WSBK? Why not produce a 989cc V4 bike based on the Desmocedici RR? All you need to do is take the RR’s frame and engine, mount it on a new bike, price it at around 35k to 40k (after making the necessary adjustments to materials and parts in order to lower the price), and voila — Ducati´s next super bike. This new bike could be a potential replacement for the 999R and could be produced instead of the 1098R or 1198R. Another advantage is that it would be able to compete directly with Aprilia´s 210Hp V4; not to mention that it would keep the Desmosedici RR exclusive while at the same time giving us Ducatisti a chance to own and feel a tremendous bike that will not be shun when the competition petitions for a displacement increase (as is the case with the 999 bikes). As for the L twin that we all love and which constitutes most of Ducati’s history, well that’s why Ducati gave us the awe-inspiring 1098 and 1098S.
The 1098 is just unbelievable! A black colour would also be deadly exciting. If the 848 comes to live in 2008, I’ll change my 749 (sorry baby…)

ora la moto per far sognare i motociclisti l’abbiamo… aspettiamo che si cuocino un pochino e poi una bella 1098 con la motorizzazione 748 o 749 (con il prezzo giusto) ed andiamo all’attacco al segmento delle 600 jap… perchè lo sappiamo che è quello il segmento ricco e che forgerà i ducatisti di domani… proprio quelli che compreranno la nostra bellissima e costosissima 1098!!!

Anche io ero in attesa del restylin della SS che tanto ha dato agli appassionati negli anni ‘90.
Colors - black or yellow. Perhaps pearl white in a limited adition based on per-orders only. Also, people love the exclusivity of a numbered bike, which is not expensive, but adds much value.

Caro presidente purtroppo a me la 1098 non è piaciuta molto stilisticamente parlando.troppo giapponese, cupolino lunghissimo con bande troppo spesse poco sfuggenti buoni però i fari. i fianchetti laterali neri con design scooteristico.la carena con il profilo a > troppo marcato.insomma resto un fan del design alla Tamburini.Inoltre la moto è attuale adesso ma penso ai giapponesi che ogni 2 anni rinnovano…,questa ducati non durerà certo 10 anni il design è troppo scontato.Comunque sempre forza ducati

Everybody knows an R 1098/1200 will appear, so the tricolore will not remain the top of the 1098 range for ever. So, why not produce each year a bike between S and R, a bike that would have a special paint. Have in mind the F1 Montjuich, Laguna Seca, Santa Monica. A 2008 1098 S “Monza” pearl white with high specificities (without being at the R level), a 2009 1098 S “Daytona” with other color scheme, a 2010 1198 S “Hockenheim” etc etc…
PLEASE build us an 848! I love the 1098 but I really dont think I can effectively use 160hp. Beautiful bike.

Spero che il mio commento riguardo la 1098 vi arrivi, perchè penso proprio che la RAD-1 dei ragazzi di Radicalducati www.radicalducati.com ( presentata al BIKE EXPO’ di Padova “Gennaio 2006″ ) ha molti molti molti lati in comune con la 1098. Con questo non voglio alludere a niente, ma dico anche che in quell’ occasione lo stand di Radicalducati era di rimpetto a quello ufficiale DUCATI. FATE VOI…….!
La ss di mercato ne ha i jap saranno anche dei copioni ma in quanto a mercato la vedono lunga basta pensare al cbr 600 f sostituito ormai 3/4 anni fa eppure la mato e ancora in listino.Il perche e ovvio e una moto che si indirizza verso motociclisti che non tutti i giorni vanno in pista ma vogliono una sportiva a 360°pero sportiva non sporturing o enduro stradale.E poi se mi permetti il cliente del749 (non in generale) ma in genere e un cliente che non puo permettersi una 999 e si accontenta.Ci tengo a precisare che non parlo solo economicamente ma anche della potenza della moto.Riflettete vertici della ducati ne vendereste a quintalate ve lo dice uno che conosce tanti possesori di cbr 600 f e moto similari con la passione ducati ma costretti a rinunciarvi poiche non c’e una ducati in quella categoria.DUCATI ss 1000 con il motore della s4rs l’estetica andrebbe solo rivista ma non cambiata la moto gia cosi e bella e unica con la sella unica e non sdoppiata.
oggi l’ho vista dal vivo….. è maledettamente bella, come lo deve essere una ducati, ma chiedo a voi giornalisti… di non discriminare la gloriosa 999 questa moto ci ha dato molte soddisfazioni come le loro precedessori, ricordatevelo bene, e sono sicuro che ce ne darà ancora, visto che il mitico troy la porterà nel mondiale sbk 2007, ciao ducatisti.
@244 Beh il 749,io possiedo l’ultimo s,non e’ che sia propriamente una ss ne come uso ne come relativa comodita’ per un eventuale passeggero ecc.L’ho comprato proprio pensando che se quella ciclistica reggeva una 999 con 140cv figuriamoci una 749s…..infatti appartengo alla seconda categoria che hai citato ovvero coloro che ritengono sufficienti quei cavalli rispetto a quelli della 999.Continuo a ritenere Ducati poco accorta nel non aver sostenuto da anni la media cilindrata anche nelle competizioni.Eppure la 749s ti da delle soddisfazioni non da poco anche contro moto sulla carta superiori.la posseggo da meno di una anno ma gia’ mi ha dato molto,attualmente sta diventando piu’ simile ad una milona che a una Ducati……Ormai a gennaio verra’ “ultimata” con un peso a secco non superiore secondo stime a 160kg o inferiore…….
Ignore all these crazy people. Just make the 1098 red with yellow for the 848. Give it a year or so before making any colour changes so we can appreciate the bikes in the metal first.

Finalmente sento qualche parere a favore del 749. Ovviamente lo possiedo anch’io (749S 2005), e l’ho comprato per le tue stesse ragioni (costa solo 2300€ in meno del 999) e anche perchè avevo un 748 che mi aveva già convinto. Il 749 non può entrare in competizione con la SS, perchè ha una ciclistica superiore e nasce per la pista. La SS nasce per andare veloce su strada, ma il motore 2 valvole (o 3) non tiene gli stessi ritmi e quindi non può avere lo stesso scopo, senza contare il fatto che deve costare 3000€ in meno! Spero che arrivi una nuova SS, ma sono molto dispiaciuto che Ducati abbia deciso di abbandonare la cilindrata 750 per la sua Superbike più piccola. Infine, come hai fatto a toglierle tutti quei chili??

I say make the second color yellow. I always loved the yellow 9’s and was greatly disappointed when the color was discontinued. As for the 848, please release that that one. I love the three quarter litre class since they make a better comprimise for a town bike and a track bike. If you release it, I will buy it.
I just put a deposit down on a new 1098 at FloridaMotorsports in Tallahassee, Fl. But it only applies if I can get one in BLACK. Please change the “TBD” color to black. Please? I’m forgoing a purchase on a Ferrari 328 to buy this bike. A black painted bike matched with the same frame and wheel color as the Tricolore would be a perfect combination! Black/Black/Black would be a great second choice.

Though I agree Ducatis should be red, it has got to be black with red frame, black wheels with red pinstripe on wheel rim and black Termigonis. Once you have thst I’ll be buying one

Congratulation on a winning punch with the 1098. I believe this bike goes back to Ducati’s roots and be a huge part of Ducati history and a 100% success, I wish you the best. I have a yellow 2002 998 and would love to see a yellow 1098 in my garage.
Depending on your price point the 848 would be a wonderful addition. If you can build it at a great price point, say $11,000 US, $14,000 Canadian with exceptional Torque and power you would have another winner. If anyone can do it Ducati will.
Please produce the 848, not everyone wants the max.

Does the 1098’s new instrument cluster have a gear position indicator? If not, IT DEFINITELY SHOULD. I mean this is supposed to be the same Digitek unit from the GP7 bike and all of the race bikes have gear position indicators on their dashes, heck even 80% of the new Japanese bikes that are more track oriented (i.e. gsxr and zx-6r) have gear position indicators. This should be available as a flash upgrade to the dash unit from Ducati dealerships if it is not going to come standard when the bike is released; us track guys need a gear indiciator!

The 848’s introduction after the 1098 will be like history repeating itself when the 748 was commissioned after the 916. The tri-colore is still my favourite! The only true Ducati colorsscheme missing is the blue/silver setup featured by machines like the ‘70 900ss. It would be a great Ducati-worthy retrostyle-paintjob!!

Sicuramente una 848 andrebbe prodotta; abbraccerebbe molti consensi. Tra l’altro basta il motore nuovo, il resto è già nella 1098. A mio avviso dovrebbe anche costare meno di 11000 euro…almeno in versione dark.

The 1098, by the numbers is an awesome bike. However, the reality is that many of us street our bikes and that is entirely too much power to deal with (or be tempted with) on the street. An 848 would be a perfect middleweight contender. With all important goodies of course :)

The 848 would be a perfect street bike. Not only that, it would also be a perfect track bike. The 1098 has more power than most people can handle even on a track. The 848 fitted like the 1098 including a slipper clutch would be both: a tremendous street bike and a wonderful recing bike. And eventually with a big bore kit it could become a 916…

I’ve been in love with Ducati bikes since the 916s. I’m not a real big fan of the 999 styling but the 1098 blew me away at my local Ducati store unvailing.

848! I had the priveledge to ride pillion on a 1098 yesterday and it was absolutely the most fun and the best ride I have EVER had on any motorcycle. While previously I’d considered other Ducatis, an 848 would be my perfect dream bike!

I don’t know if other countries has, but in Norway we have taxes for ccm and hp. So if you produce the 848 it will be some cheaper than the 1098 in Norway because of the taxes.. But I’ll bet you wont sell more than 10-20 848’s a year up here.. :(

I sincerely hope Ducati will consider producing the 848.
For myself, and I expect for many others in North America, the 1098 is very desirable but is just too much bike if one is planning to use it on the street regularly.
For those in the U.S. like myself who will only ride Ducati the choices now are the 160hp 1098 and the 77hp SuperSport 800 - opposite ends of the sportbike spectrum with nothing in between. I think an 848 would fill a niche for those that are not dedicated racer types but want a Ducati sportbike that is more realistic for regular street use with the occasional track day outing.
I bet you could even keep 848 pricing very close to the 1098 and still see the demand - it’s more a function of practicality than price point.
I look forward to hearing updated information from you on the 848 project.

A mio avviso le eccezioni sono due: sì la Tricolore, ma anche la SS 900 Final Edition, ultima erede di una gloriosa stirpe. Ne sono un orgoglioso proprietario.

Io penso che la 848 sarà una svolta perchè offrirà le emozioni della 1098 ma senza prendersi l’impegno di una moto grossa e senza spendere troppo. Inoltre vorrei sapere se uscirà anche il modello da 34 cv come il 749 per chi come me non ce la fa ad aspettare. Per la colorazione io proporrei il classico rosso con telaio rosso e cerchi neri, un nero lucido con cerchi rossi e un giallo che piace ancora molto. Il bianco no perche secondo me lafa sembrare meno cattiva.

I have owned a 748,998 S, 999 mono MY 05 and I would be extremely interested in a Ducati 848 as long as it is absolutely identical to the 1098 in everyway (apart from the engine size of course!)including suspension,the same radial brakes,swing arm, Gp7 LCD unit etc…

Caro Presidente, ho 21 anni e sto facendo la patente A e intanto sogno per l’anno prossimo la 848…è la moto sportiva definitiva!!! Non vedo l’ora di vedrela in vetrina al Ducati Lodi. La 1098 sta benissimo con tutti e tre i colori(soprattutto il mitico giallo Ducati e il nero)…ma un bel rosso Ducati metallizzato come quello della GP7 mi farebbe davvero piacere…sono stato al Mugello quest’anno e devo dire che vedere dal vivo la “Ducatona” di Casey e Loris è stato un bel colpo d’occhio…e poi anche la Ferrari in F1 si è convertita al rosso metallizzato per le sue monoposto…e se lo hanno fatto le Ferrari…CIAO E BUON DESMO A TUTTI!!!

I am in the process of purchasing a 1098S. I understand that the headlight arrangement is one side on for dipped beam and the other for high beam - does anybody know if there is a way of adjusting this so that both lights come on on low beam to avoid a “lop-sided look” - I appreciate previous models also had this feature.

I have just purchased a 1098 and it appears that (looking at the bike from the front) the left side light is permantly on when ignition activated - which I believe is a good thing for safety - and the right side will come on when engaged by the rider. Now to me, it seems that the right side will be the high beam (If a UK bike), which makes sense when riding in the dark ofcourse! So ‘IF’ riding in the dark,my opinion is that it would be very beneficial to leave them as they are from factory.
Having both lights on low beam, I think, at night time would restrict your vision of any oncoming traffic. But if you personally do prefer to have your lights looked at, then my suggestion would be to contact your nearest Ducati main dealer for advice on the matter before you attempt anything, if for nothing else, Saftey! Anyway - Good luck and enjoy your 1098 amd look forward to sseing the bike racing in 2008!! And by the way, I am absoltely smitten with my 1098, I think it is THE best superbike that DUCATI have ever made (and I have had a few).

Io vorrei capire se realmente la 848 sarà prodotta, ad essere sincero la linea della 749 non mi fa impazzire quindi io per il 2008 vorrei cambiare moto ma se non mi tirate fuori la 848 sarò costreto a tornare su una media giapponese o su una inglesina.

Does anyone think that the rear carbon hugger that is available to be fitted on the 1098 is a bit useless..? as there is a large gap near the front which would let through dirt,stones etc.which defeat’s the whole object. What is that all about please Ducati???

Sono un felice possessore di un 749 giallo , che a mio parere e’ una gran moto , non mi dispiacerebbe un giorno sostituirla con 848 ovviamente giallo , io mi sono sempre trovato bene con il testastretta di media cilindrata per l’uso stradale , la 1098 secondo il mio parere per potenza e’ una moto estrema e’ quindi molto impegnativa nell’utilizzo stradale…..
Volevo anche aggiungere che sono molto deluso dei risultati ottenuti in vari anni di gare supersport del 749r , una moto che secondo me meritava piu’ attenzione e sviluppo per ottenere maggiori risultati
come lo e’ stato per la 999 , e invece le abbiamo prese di santa ragione e con una moto che costa il doppio di una japp……

si certo depotenziata……se aspettate ancora un po’ vi faranno il 2000 depotenziato!
Ma non fatemi ridere e partite da moto piu’ calme e fate piu’ esperienza prima.
Da qualche giorno i neopatentati B potranno guidare auto con max 50 kW a libretto, prestissimo speriamo in molti venga introdotta una norma simile anche per le moto x quanto riguarda i neopatentati.
LA vedete giusta che un 21/22enne senza mai aver avuto o girato in moto prima, ma solo per prendere la patente con un catorcio, appena patentato guidi un 1098 o una r1 o via dicendo?
il prezzo è 13.700…bhè più ufficiale di così…le consegnano da metà novembre in poi, io sul contratto ho scritto tassativamente entro fine novembre!!!

Come parecchi di voi sono in attesa della 848, ma nessuno sa dare qualche indicazione precisa oltre all’anno di uscita che dovrebbe essere ormai sicuro il 2008, visto che sono 12 mesi che aspetto l’uscita di questo gioiellino nessuno conosce almeno il mese.
Krusty, forse non hai letto i post precedenti..la moto è ordinabile presso la rete ufficiale e le consegne sono previste da fine novembre. Io l’ho ordinata il 2 ottobre da Wielich a Roma.
Ma è vera la notizia che l’848 non avrà la frizione a secco?? ditemi che non è vero, non ci credo!
Bianca sarebbe bellissima, magari un bianco perlato, con una lieve aggiunta di una linea di colore rosso ducati e magari uno scudettino DUCATI CORSE che non guasterebbe mica… saluti
Intanto complimenti per la moto ke è troppo bella. Poi oltre alla colorazione rossa e tricolore, quella bianca del bozzetto e stupenda e innovativa, ma anke qulla nera merita. Pensate anche a noi 18enni che vogliamo iniziare bene. Soprattutto, visto il prezzo delle vostre moto, se a 18 anni mi comprassi un monster depo, di sicuro non riuscirei a trovare i soldi per comprarmi una nuova moto dopo solo 3 anni. D’altronde noi giovani comuni facciamo già i salti mortali per avere 10000€ per comprare un monster, figuriamoci se dopo 3 anni ne abbiamo altri 14000€! Ma per chi ci avete preso? E poi, dal punto di vista del marketing, meglio uno che ti compra una moto depo da 14000€ piuttosto di uno che ne compra una da 10000€, no? Detto tra noi, a me le naked non piacciono, quindi mi indirizzerei su moto jap depo. In sostanza PERDERESTE UN CLIENTE E TANTI ALTRI COME ME! Pensateci!
