Una settimana, quella passata, decisamente positiva per Ducati e certamente appassionata anche per me, personalmente.
È iniziata in modo inusuale con la presenza alla serata inaugurale del Festival del film a Cannes, ospite di Salvatore Serio, CEO di Europcar ed ex direttore generale di Ducati France. Grande mondanità e molti utili contatti per poter vedere Ducati in azione nei film dei prossimi anni. Poi in Italia, a correre nel Motogiro, una tradizione che non manco dalla nascita della manifestazione nel 2001 . Quest’anno in sella alla GT1000 che avevo provato in città ma non sulla distanza.
Last week was a positive week for Ducati, and for me personally as a Ducati fan.
The week began in a quite unusual way – I had the opportunity to attend the inaugural night of the Cannes film festival as Salvatore Serio’s guest. Salvatore is the CEO of Europcar and ex Managing Director of Ducati France. The atmosphere at the Festival was quite “high society” and I made all sorts of contacts to make sure that we see Ducati motorcycles in action in upcoming films.

È la mia moto ideale (assieme al fidato MTS) per la collina ed il percorso misto. Facile, comodo, perdona a me, che non sono un grande motociclista tutti gli inevitabili errori in curva. Poi da Rimini a Bologna in Autostrada (metterò il cupolino Ducati performance sulla GT) a vedere la grande gara di Loris a Le Mans immediatamente dopo la telefonata entusiasta di Loris che è gasatissimo per il Mugello.
Appuntamento a tutti alla curva Ducati il 4 giugno.
p.s. peccato non poter dividere con voi la torta che Lidia (Ducati Club Borgo Panigale) mi ha portato dopo Le Mans.
Upon my return to Italy, I went straight to race in the Motogiro d’Italia. I haven’t missed a Motogiro since the beginning of the event in 2001! This year I rode a GT 1000 that, up to now, I had only tried in the city. This was my first opportunity to try it out on longer distances. The GT 1000 is my ideal bike (together with my trustworthy MTS) for hills and for mixed terrain. It is easy, comfortable and forgiving – this is especially important seeing that I am not the most expert rider and some errors in the curves are inevitable.
After the end of the Motogiro I rode from Rimini to Bologna on the highway (I am now going to put the Ducati Performance windscreen on my GT) to see the great MotoGP race in Le Mans. Loris called me right after the race – he is in great shape and excited for Mugello.
Next appointment: the Ducati Grandstand at Mugello, Sunday, June 4!
P.S. It is too bad we can’t all share the cake that Lidia (president of DOC Borgo Panigale) made for me after our success in Le Mans.

Buon giorno presidente! Oggi ho letto un articolo a pagina 108 di motosprint “tmax da record” 449 due ruote insieme hanno sfilato insieme nuovo record… Quanti monster avete venduto in più di dieci anni???? Dato che questo anno non ci sarà i WDW(sing!) organizziamo per il prossimo un maxi raduno con una sfilata di almeno un 1000 monster?!!! Il mio è già iscritto!! O vogliamo lasciare il record ad un “elettrodomestico” jap :(???

Complimenti ancora una volta per la sua passione che va oltre i “doveri aziendali” e complimenti per la costanza di risultati,sia in Superbike che in Motogp.Per quest’anno ho solo messo su due gomme e i tubi freno nuovi al mio fidato Monster,che dal 1996 mi da’ tante soddisfazioni ma il mio sogno,quando ne avro’la possibilita’(sono per i cari vecchi contanti e aborro le rateizzazioni..) acquistero’ la Multistrada S ,sempre che nell’attesa non nasca un’altra Ducati capace di farmi cambiare idea! Il lavoro in fabbrica ,la famiglia e le possibilita’economiche mi impediscono di partecipare alle vostre iniziative e ad altri raduni,ma sono sempre davanti alla tv a tifare Ducati ogni volta che posso e nel box affittato vicino casa ci sara’ sempre un “rossa” ad attendermi.

I however just saw a rumor that Ducati may be making a 750 F1 replica….. I would love to see this bike built and as one of the legions that lusted after this bike as a kid, I would be one of the first to take one of these if built!
I own a ‘99 Monster and just got the PS1000LE this winter, but would trade both for a modern version of the 1975 750 F1!!!! Ok, not really, as I’d just add the F1 to the stable….. but really, if there is a chance this bike would be made, let me know as I will put a deposit down today!!

Ma la maggioranza dei motociclisti italiani, purtroppo, preferiscono i 200 cavalli a 15.000 giri di una ultracolorata e assettatissima (e spesso inutile… sulle strade di tutti i giorni) supersportiva giapponese :-(

hey guys, GT1000 is already on the italian dealers, surely will be soon put on production, i placed my order last saturday and the dealer told me that i have to wait 10-15 days maximum. The 2 bikes already there came from the “press launch” and they told me that those 2 bikes will be used for the “open week”, starting from june 10.

Hey Federico, glad to hear that you enjoy riding the GT1000. Now where the heck is the one that I ordered last December? How about spending some time making them instead of riding them? Don’t rub our noses in the fact that you’re having fun riding a bike that is late on delivery - like so many Ducati new releases - for us paying customers.

I may have misled you with my comments Federico. I have no problem with pre-ordering a bike and waiting for it. I do have a problem when delivery forecasts are not met and the bike is late. That’s my only real issue. While this may not be your fault, I do believe that you are the one that is ultimately accountable for Ducati’s delivery performance.
And yes, I am looking forward to it and expect to have as much fun as you’ve had.
I’ve been waiting close to two years, and although I’m not complaining (since the original delivery date was September 2006), it would be nice to have some idea of when I might receive my bike (CA USA) from Ducati. As of now, I have absolutley no clue as to when my bike will arrive. My dealer (ProItalia LA) has no information. I’m just wondering if the bikes have shipped or if they are still in the factory?

For all the complaints relating to the delivery of the GT1000. There are bikes in CA dealerships, Berts,Spectrum,Ducati of BH as well as SF and SD dealerships. The trick is to look and not to wait for any specific dealer to deliver.

If you’re referring to Berts Mega Mall in Covina, I just called and they don’t have them in stock. They said they are special order only. I assume I would get a similar answer from the other dealers you have mentioned. Do you have more specific information on exactly which CA USA dealer has them in stock? I find it odd that dealers would stock these bikes while people who pre-ordered them 2 years ago (like myself) are still waiting for delivery.

hi all, yesterday i took my red gt1000, i did only 10 km sorry, but my impressions are very very good. it is really “easy” and “nice” to ride,i feel confident with it after 100 metres! it is exactly what i was expecting. thank you ducati, now my ‘06 summer will truly starts.
